Up to mid 2004 I went around with a Sony DCS 717 (5MP, 5X zoom), and then I felt the need for something less invasive, but with the same or better resolution and image quality. So I replaced the Sony for an Olympus C765 UltraZoom, very versatile and capable fot all kinds of work without having to press too many controls.
During 2005 I uptated that to an Oly C7000 (7Megapixels, 5X zoom). The added resolution does not come with pixel-choking quality loss, has a great little built-in flash and the “supermacro” mode even tops my semipro desktop scanner.

For professional work I use the E-1 Olympus (4-thirds system). Easy to use for a Digital SLR (once you learn where the outside buttons are) and amazing image quality. It’s great for field work, weatherproof (I’ve seen someone pour water directly on it while shooting bursts) and self-cleaning sensor never gets dust on while changing lenses, something I don’t do very often anyways since with one (Zuixo 14-54) all-round lens and a 1.4 extender I get all the shots I need.
